Annual Events in Fairfax

March – Fairfax Brewfest

Held annually in March, the Fairfax BrewFest kicks off the tasting season.  The BrewFest hosts  20 or more micro breweries providing tastes of their best offerings. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and held at The Pavilion, it is usually the brewmasters themselves who pour and are happy to chat about their brews.  There is a tasting competition where you can taste and then  vote on your favorite beers in several categories, followed by medals being awarded.  Music is provided by a live band on stage.

March – West Marin Little League Parade & Festivities

Each year the West Marin Little League holds its Opening Day Parade & Festivities in Fairfax. The parade begins at 9 am and proceeds down Broadway to Central Field where the players participate in Opening Day ceremonies.  There then follows a program of games involving all the kids, with parents and other members of the community looking on.

April – Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt is hosted for children 8 years old and under with music and face painting activities, all in Bolinas Park. The event is scheduled on the Saturday before Easter, from 9 am-noon.

June – Fairfax Festival & EcoFest

The annual Fairfax Festival, a 36 year tradition, is Marin’s premier community celebration. The Fairfax Festival embodies the values that we cherish: community, family, social responsibility, sustainability and, of course, a great party. So join us the first weekend in June starting Friday evening with an outdoor film showing at Contratti Park.   Then come to the parade at 10 AM on Saturday, and enjoy two days of celebrating the good things in life and in Fairfax. Hear great local music at three stages, shop for crafts and flea market treasures, enjoy fresh, wholesome food, entertain the kid’s in our expanded children’s area, and ponder social and environmental issues at the EcoFest.

The festival offers something for everyone who attends. It is put on all by volunteers, a group of your friends and neighbors. We take special pride in being a 100% volunteer run (no outside promoter needed). So come enjoy our hometown event, and be sure to support your local craftspeople, artists, flea marketers, breweries, and food purveyors.

August – Streets For People

Streets for People inspires people of all ages to gather and participate in their community in a new way, encouraging the creation of vibrant places within public spaces.  Held on the last Sunday of August, Bolinas Avenue from Broadway to Elsie Lane is closed to traffic.  Car free, the street becomes a pedestrian thoroughfare for townspeople and visitors to gather and enjoy environmentally-friendly outdoor activities, reconnect and socialize with friends, check out live local music, and shop and dine in the local shops and restaurants.

September – Fairfax Car Show

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ross Valley, the Annual Fairfax Car Show attracts classic car enthusiasts from around the region, providing them an opportunity to display a really wide range of classic cars covering most epochs of 20th century car design. Proceeds from the show benefit Fairfax and San Anselmo youth groups.

September – Town Picnic

Sponsored by the Fairfax Volunteers, the annual Town Picnic is a chance to enjoy food & drink, music, games, activities for kids like a bounce house,  and much more  The picnic takes place at the Contratti Park Ball Field.  There are watermelon eating contests, sack races, an egg race, and a tug of war.  A raffle with wonderful prizes donated by local merchants is featured.  It’s a kid-friendly, family oriented event in fun Fairfax.

October – Fairfax Irish Festival
